What is an Ergonomist?
An ergonomist is a professional who has an in-depth understanding of the human and environmental factors that influence how a person interacts with his or her working environment. By understanding these factors, an ergonomist is able to provide advice regarding workplace design and workstation set up that is aimed at improving employee safety, comfort and productivity.
Are our consultants ergonomists?
Yes, they are. All of our consultants specialise in workplace ergonomics and workplace injury prevention. Our sole focus is to improve workstation ergonomics and design, to ensure that your employees are safer and more comfortable at their desks.
The added bonus is that our consultants are also Physiotherapists who work exclusively in the field of occupational health. This means that not only do they have an in-depth understanding of workplace and office ergonomics, they also have an in-depth understanding of musculoskeletal anatomy and how certain injuries affect the way your employees interact with their workspace and furniture. This ensures that we are best suited to be able to make appropriate adjustments and recommendations to workstations to prevent injuries from occurring, as well as manage existing injuries.
What do ergonomists do?
Ergonomists ensure that an individuals' workstation is set up and/or designed in a way that minimises safety risks and improves comfortability for that individual. In doing so, the end result is reduced pain and injury, and increased productivity. This may be achieved through an ergonomic assessment or the prescription of specific ergonomic furniture and equipment.
