We offer our manual handling training sessions in Melbourne, Geelong, Bendigo and Ballarat.

Training Content and Structure

It's our goal to provide your employees with complete injury prevention education and training. This includes best practice manual handling techniques, as well using our expertise as physiotherapists to teach your employees how injuries occur, what is happening in the body when an injury develops, and what physical signs and symptoms they can look out for to best prevent little niggles from preventing into fully fledged injuries.

We do not use powerpoint presentations. Instead, our sessions are highly engaging, involving demonstrations and discussions with your staff.

We also do not offer generic training sessions. Instead, all of our manual handling training sessions are tailored to cover the specific tasks that your staff perform. This ensures the training is maximally relevant to your workforce.

We cover the following content in all of our manual handling training sessions:

  1. Discussion of how manual handling injuries occur, and the different types of manual handling injuries, such as traumatic and accumulative/repetitive injuries.
  2. Discussion and education of key injury prevention principles, helping your employees to understand what is actually happening in the body when an injury develops. Understanding this helps your employees to prevent little niggles from progressing into fully fledged injuries.
  3. Demonstrations of the key manual handling techniques that typically make up all manual handling tasks. This includes lifting, twisting/rotating, carrying, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
  4. Demonstration and discussion of key postures that are most problematic and most likely to lead to an injury.
  5. Demonstrations and discussions of the exact tasks that your staff perform at work, so that they can better understand how to perform these tasks as safely as possible.

To help us understand the tasks that your staff perform, which is important to be able to tailor the session to suit the demands of your workforce, we will conduct a site visit before your training session if needed.

Course Duration

A typical manual handling training session runs for 90 - 120 minutes.

However, we can tailor the length of your session to suit the time that you have available, so please just let us know this information at the time of your booking.
