Laptop Stands and Laptop Mounts
Laptops are commonly used a secondary screen or even as a primary screen in many modern workplaces. Whilst this is great for mobility, it is terrible for ergonomics because it results in you constantly looking down at the screen, placing increased stress on your back, neck and shoulders.
There are two ways to improve your workstation ergonomics with respect to laptop use, which are:
The best solution is to have a laptop mount attached to a monitor arm so that you can raise the laptop up to the ideal height. This option is great for laptop use alone, or when you use a laptop as a second screen with a monitor, as you can raise the laptop up to the same height as the monitor. Further, because the laptop screen is usually smaller than a standard computer monitor, a monitor arm will also enable you to bring the laptop closer to your body, making it easier to see, and reducing the likelihood of you leaning forwards in your chair.
The second option is to utilise a laptop stand, which raises the height of the laptop much higher than the level of the desk.
With either option, you will need access to an external keyboard and mouse.
